Neymar speaks out about facing Messi in the US

Neymar comments on his future amidst MLS speculation, stating he still intends to complete his contract with Santos FC through the end of the year.

Neymar has officially addressed his future as rumors of a move to MLS intensify, following a disappointing match for Santos FC.

In the Copa Sudamericana, Santos only managed a 1-1 draw against Deportivo Recoleta at their home stadium Vila Belmiro. The disappointing result left fans visibly angry, even booing the team after the match. Although Neymar himself scored the opening goal, he became the focus of criticism.

Alongside the underwhelming performance, the future of the Brazilian superstar is also under major question. Multiple sources report that FC Cincinnati is keen to sign Neymar, with the player's representatives even preparing talks with MLS to advance a deal after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

However, when directly asked about the possibility of leaving Santos, Neymar was quite cautious: “I don't know. Honestly, I don't know. I still have a contract with Santos until the end of the year, and I want to fulfill it.” This statement indicates he is not rushing to decide his future, despite the allure of the American league.

Not only drawing attention due to transfer speculation, Neymar also faced a tense situation with fans in the stands. After being called a "spoiled child," he reacted sharply. The 34-year-old forward later explained: “I only reacted to how they spoke to me. I understand criticism about my performance, but when things become personal, I cannot accept it.”

At present, Neymar remains focused on maintaining his best physical condition for what could be his final World Cup. With his contract nearing expiration and interest from MLS, the coming months are seen as a crucial turning point for the Brazilian star's future.
