Football result: The Cong Viettel secured a 1-0 victory over Thanh Hoa FC in round 18 of this season's V-League, during which Coach Popov received a red card.

Right after the starting whistle, both teams entered the match fiercely. The Cong Viettel quickly applied pressure and nearly scored the opening goal in the 7th minute when Wesley headed the ball into Thanh Hoa's net, but the goal was not recognized.

A storm passed over the Thanh region team's goal in the 17th minute when Colonna headed the ball onward and Van Nam then attempted a close-range shot but sent the ball wide of the goal.

In the 27th minute, Thanh Hoa FC goalkeeper Y Eli Nie failed to hold the ball after a high-ball situation. The ball subsequently went into the net of the Thanh region team. However, the referee ruled that Lucao had committed a foul beforehand, so the goal was not acknowledged.

Thanh Hoa FC also had some retaliatory moves, notably Rimario's burst of speed in the 39th minute. This player faced The Cong Viettel's goalkeeper but shot wide.

Moving into the second half, the match situation became more tense. At the 70th minute, a turning point occurred when the referee awarded The Cong Viettel a penalty after a handball incident by Van Loi inside the penalty area.

From the 11-meter spot, Henrique executed a fortunate shot as he slipped but the ball still went dangerously, defeating goalkeeper Y Eli Nie, opening the score to 1-0 for The Cong Viettel.

After conceding, Thanh Hoa FC pushed forward but could not achieve an equalizing goal. At the end of the match, The Cong Viettel's Coach Popov received a red card for a reaction offense. He even removed his nameplate and threw it onto the field. After 90 minutes, The Cong Viettel secured a 1-0 victory over Thanh Hoa FC.

With this win, The Cong Viettel has 38 points after 18 matches and ranks 2nd on the V-League standings. Meanwhile, Thanh Hoa FC is placed 11th with 16 points.
