Assistant Lee Jung Soo, after departing from the Vietnam national team, will lead a well-known player, Sergio Aguero.
As previously reported, Kanchanaburi Power Club officially announced head coach Lee Jung Soo. Just one day after VFF announced that the Korean assistant would leave the Vietnam national team upon contract expiration, the Thai League team quickly signed him as head coach.
Notably, while leading Kanchanaburi Power, Coach Lee Jung Soo will directly work with Malaysia's naturalized forward Sergio Aguero. This name is quite familiar to Vietnamese fans, as he is frequently called up to the Malaysia national team and directly faced the "Golden Dragons" in the 2022 AFF Cup.
However, in the Malaysia national team currently, Sergio Aguero is often a substitute, unable to compete for a starting spot in the attack. In Malaysia's 1-3 loss to Vietnam in March 2026, Aguero was called up but did not play a single minute.
Additionally, Sergio Aguero was once a student of Coach Kim Sang Sik. In the friendly match between ASEAN All Stars and Manchester United, Sergio Aguero was called up and even wore the captain's armband for ASEAN All Stars. Now, Sergio Aguero will work directly with the former assistant of Coach Kim Sang Sik from the Vietnam national team.
Currently, Kanchanaburi ranks 14th out of 16 in the standings – a position synonymous with relegation risk at the end of the season. The team has 22 points, with 3 matches remaining, trailing the team above by 3 points but having played one more match. The challenge is greater as their upcoming schedule is tough, facing Buriram, Ratchaburi, and Chonburi – teams among the leaders.
During his time working in Vietnam, Coach Lee Jung Soo's most notable contribution was improving the effectiveness of set-piece situations, especially corner kicks. Goals from coordinated plays against Bangladesh or Malaysia clearly demonstrated his sharp tactical thinking. Additionally, he contributed to Vietnam U23's journey at SEA Games 33 and the 2026 AFC U23 Championship, helping young players significantly improve their tactical understanding and execution.
