Following the initial two rounds of group matches, the four teams that earned their place in the semifinals of the 2026 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship have been confirmed.
In Group A, Vietnam and Thailand secured their tickets with two consecutive victories over opponents Myanmar and Timor-Leste. This outcome is not particularly surprising, as both teams were strong contenders.
Regarding the Vietnamese national futsal team, they defeated Myanmar 4-0 in their opening match, then secured a decisive 7-1 victory over Timor-Leste in their second match. On the standings, Vietnam currently leads with 6 points and a goal difference of (+10).
Host Thailand ranks second with the same 6 points but a lower goal difference (+5). In their opening match, they won 4-1 Timor-Leste and in their second match, the "War Elephants" only managed a 2-0 win against Myanmar. On April 8, Thailand and Vietnam will face each other in the final match to determine the group winner.
A similar scenario unfolded in Group B, where Indonesia and Australia easily secured their advancement after victories over Malaysia and Brunei. On the standings, Australia leads Indonesia due to a superior goal difference. Like Vietnam and Thailand, in the final match, these two teams will clash to determine the first and second positions in the group.
In the semifinals, the winner of Group A will face the runner-up of Group B. Conversely, the winner of Group B will compete against the runner-up of Group A. Therefore, the upcoming final group stage matches between Vietnam vs Thailand and Indonesia vs Australia promise to be highly explosive and exciting.
