Diaz still unsatisfied despite Real's defeat at Bernabeu

Luis Díaz acknowledges Bayern Munich's victory over Real Madrid but regrets missed opportunities, leaving their advantage ahead of the return leg not entirely secure.

Luis Diaz admits Bayern Munich left Real Madrid's stadium with mixed emotions following a crucial 2-1 victory in the Champions League quarter-finals. At the Santiago Bernabéu, Bayern Munich delivered an impressive performance by overcoming Real Madrid to gain an advantage before the return match. Diaz and Harry Kane were the scorers for the German side, while Kylian Mbappe scored the only goal for the hosts, keeping their hopes alive.

Despite securing a win away from home, Bayern was not entirely satisfied with this result. The Bavarian team created several clear opportunities, especially in the first half, but lacked the necessary sharpness to increase the lead. This meant they could only leave Spain with a fragile advantage.

Bayern achieved a victory against Real Madrid

“This was a very difficult match. Real Madrid is always a strong opponent, especially when playing at home. We had a good plan and executed it effectively, particularly in the first half.”

The Colombian star couldn't hide his regret as Bayern missed several chances that could have decided the match earlier. According to him, if they had capitalized better, everything would have been much easier before the return leg.

“We had many scoring opportunities, and if we had utilized one of them, the feeling after the match would have been much more relaxed. We need to maintain maximum focus for the next game.”

Alongside the joy of victory, Diaz also emphasized the mixed emotions as his team couldn't “finish off” the opponent: “This is the result we wanted, but there is still some regret. We could have scored at least one more goal to secure a greater advantage.”

The return match at Allianz Arena promises to be extremely tense as Real Madrid will undoubtedly exert full effort to reverse the situation. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich needs to maintain focus and improve their finishing ability if they aim to complete their goal of securing a spot in the Champions League semi-finals.
