One player on Manchester United's clearance list is staying! Wants to remain as a substitute if the club returns to the Champions League, says Old Trafford is special.

According to British media reports, Manchester United has included Rashford, Sancho, Højlund, Malacia, Ugarte, and Zirkzee among others on the summer clearance list, but Dutch striker Zirkzee now desires to stay.

The Daily Mail reports that Zirkzee firmly believes he will get more opportunities next season if Carrick remains and United returns to the Champions League. Sources close to the player indicate they doubt United will strengthen the forward line in the upcoming summer transfer window. Thus, with the club likely returning to the Champions League next season and the schedule significantly increasing, Zirkzee thinks Carrick will give him more playing time.

This season, Manchester United played only 40 matches across all competitions, mainly due to missing European competitions and exiting the English League Cup and FA Cup after one round. Participating in the Champions League next season would mean at least eight group stage matches; if the domestic cup competitions progress further, the number of matches could approach 60.

Therefore, Zirkzee still holds hope for his future. Now, he is certain to miss the Dutch national team's World Cup squad, so he doesn't need to push excessively and can focus on club football. Zirkzee likely also sees recognition from some United fans on social media, which boosts his confidence. Many Red Devils supporters appreciate his refined footwork, disregarding his limited goal-scoring stats, and strongly advocate keeping the 24-year-old Dutch forward.

British media state that Zirkzee has particularly close relationships with Patrick Doku and Kobbie Mainoo within the team. Despite significant interest from several Italian clubs, similar to the January transfer window, Zirkzee has not actively requested to leave, forcing United to decide: whether to honor his wish to stay or, like with Højlund before last season, force him out.

Last summer, Højlund, who had a "dream of playing for United," also wanted to stay, but Ruben Amorim left him no hope, directly excluding him from match lists. Eventually, Højlund had to accept a loan move to Napoli. Now, Højlund will definitely be bought out, with United receiving a total transfer fee of €50 million.

Zirkzee has now begun publicly expressing his loyalty to Manchester United. In an interview with the club's official website this week, the Dutchman described the extraordinary significance of playing at Old Trafford and before United fans. He said nothing in the world compares to the feeling of wearing the Red Devils shirt and stepping onto the pitch at the Theatre of Dreams before passionate supporters.

"I feel there's no other place that can match it," Zirkzee said regarding the atmosphere at Old Trafford. "When the crowd starts singing 'The Manchester Way' before the match, you feel the adrenaline rush. Even during the game, you sometimes look around and think, 'Wow, I'm actually playing at Old Trafford!' It's very special; you can truly feel it. It's hard to describe with words, but it's a positive energy, that atmosphere surrounding the stadium, along with the club's history and the great players who have played here."

Zirkzee emphasized: "The only thing I can say is, I'm really grateful to have the chance to perform before these fans. It's simply incredible, both the stadium and the supporters. I believe there truly is no other place in the world that can compare."

Records show Zirkzee's base weekly wage at Manchester United is £105,000, plus up to £32,000 in bonuses per week, totaling less than £140,000 weekly. Staying as a substitute is economically feasible. However, he must improve his scoring ability and match tempo, otherwise he will still struggle to establish himself in the Premier League.
