VFF outlines crucial plans for a series of Vietnamese national teams

The 12th Meeting of the VFF Executive Committee, 9th Term: Key plans for the second quarter of 2026 approved

On March 30, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the 12th Meeting of the VFF Executive Committee, 9th Term (2022-2026 tenure) was held. The meeting reviewed the results of the first quarter and outlined key tasks for the second quarter of 2026.

At the meeting, following the report on first-quarter activities and key second-quarter tasks from the General Secretary's Office, Vice Chairman Tran Anh Tu presented the plans for national teams, particularly the key tasks for the second quarter of 2026. Accordingly, the men's futsal team will participate in the Southeast Asian Championship from April 6-12 in Thailand. The Vietnam U20 women's team will compete in the AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup finals from April 1-18 in Thailand. The U17 women's team will participate in the AFC U17 Women's Asian Cup finals from May 1-17 in China.

The Vietnam U17 men's team will compete in the Southeast Asian Championship from April 13-24 in Indonesia, before participating in the AFC U17 Asian Cup finals from May 3-22 in Saudi Arabia. The Vietnam U19 men's team will take part in the Southeast Asian U19 Championship from June 1-14 in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the Vietnam national team will also undergo training preparations for the AFF Cup in the latter half of June; it is expected to assemble five weeks before the AFF Cup and may train abroad for optimal preparation.

Regarding Vietnam's women's national teams, VFF continues to prioritize investment, with the women's national team currently undergoing a transition of personnel and focusing on squad development, aiming for the 2030 Asian Cup qualification and the 34th SEA Games. At the meeting, Executive Committee members contributed opinions, including further developing the foundation for women's football.

Regarding the organization of the 10th Congress (2026-2030 tenure), based on the General Secretary's Office's report on the overall proposed plan, the Executive Committee discussed and agreed to assign the General Secretary's Office and relevant departments to closely follow the plan for implementation according to schedule and regulations.

The meeting approved the Activity Report for the First Quarter and the implementation plan for the Second Quarter of 2026 of VFF; approved the Activity Plan for the Second Quarter of 2026 for National Teams and the plan for the National Team's participation in the ASEAN Hyundai Cup 2026 in Hanoi; approved the Report on the organization of National Professional Football competitions for 2025/26 and the proposed plan for organizing National Professional Football competitions for 2026/27; approved the Plan for organizing the 10th VFF Congress (2026-2030 tenure)...
