Malaysia excludes 5 players ahead of the crucial match against Vietnam's national team

Malaysia has arrived in Ninh Binh with 28 players to prepare for the rematch with the Vietnamese national team.

On the evening of March 28, the Malaysian national team landed in Hanoi before moving to Ninh Binh, beginning preparations for their encounter with the Vietnamese national team at Thiên Trường Stadium in the final qualifying round for the 2027 Asian Cup.

The flight carrying "The Malaysian Tigers" landed at Noi Bai International Airport around 8:30 PM. The delegation consisted of 51 members, including 28 players registered by head coach Peter Cklamovski for the match, along with 23 coaching staff members.

Thus, the Malaysian national team must exclude five more players to finalize the 23-player roster. Meanwhile, Coach Kim Sang Sik has already called up the full 23 players for Vietnam's national team from the start, and all will be registered for the match against Malaysia on March 31.

Malaysia's roster continues to draw attention as 13 out of 28 players are of multinational heritage. Notable names include Dominic Tan, Daniel Ting, Quentin Cheng, Endrick, Ryan Lambert, Nooa Laine, Ezequiel Aguero, and Paulo Josue. Additionally, the team features several players competing abroad, such as Dion Cools (Cerezo Osaka), Daniel Ting (Ratchaburi), and midfielder Endrick, who is currently playing in the V.League for Ho Chi Minh City Police Club.

Compared to the most recent encounter in June 2025, Malaysia's squad has undergone significant changes, with seven naturalized players no longer eligible. Nevertheless, the team retains its familiar core while adding new elements like Muhammad Feroz Baharudin and Muhammad Syahmi Safari.

Notably, two previously anticipated players, Bergson da Silva and Giancarlo Gallifuoco, are absent from this trip. After completing immigration procedures, the team quickly moved to their hotel to rest and is scheduled to have two training sessions in Vietnam before facing the Vietnamese national team on March 31.
