Korean newspaper praises coach Kim Sang Sik approaching the great record of coach Park

Korean press commends coach Kim Sang Sik moving closer to two milestones achieved by coach Park following a 3-0 win against Bangladesh.

Coach Kim Sang Sik continues to receive praise from Korean newspapers after Vietnam national team's 3-0 victory over Bangladesh in the FIFA Day friendly match held on March 26. This is considered a significant step for him in the journey to approach the records previously established by his predecessor Park Hang Seo.

Osen newspaper commented: "Vietnam national football team coach Kim Sang Sik (50 years old) has taken another step closer to two great achievements attained by his predecessor Park Hang Seo (69 years old). This victory extends Vietnam national team's unbeaten streak to 16 matches, including 13 wins and 3 draws. According to Osen, this number is only two matches away from the record of 18 unbeaten matches under coach Park Hang Seo, opening an opportunity for Kim Sang Sik to approach one of the most significant milestones in Vietnamese football history.

Korean media also emphasized that the recent victory helped Vietnam national team improve its FIFA ranking. "Coach Kim Sang Sik's players are affirming their position as the strongest team in Southeast Asia through cohesive teamwork and excellent match management. Based on this momentum, the goal of re-entering the Top 100 world ranking is very close," Osen wrote. Currently, Vietnam ranks 103rd worldwide, rising 5 places compared to before, and stands second in Southeast Asia after Thailand.

Another favorable factor mentioned by the Korean newspaper is Malaysia national team being penalized with a 0-3 loss in recent matches due to using ineligible players, causing them to drop to 135th place. This opens an opportunity for Vietnam national team to improve its ranking before facing Malaysia in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifier on March 31 at Thiên Trường Stadium.

Osen concluded that if Vietnam national team wins against Malaysia, coach Kim Sang Sik will not only move closer to Park Hang Seo's 18-match unbeaten record but also have an opportunity to approach the highest FIFA ranking milestone ever achieved, the 94th world position in December 2023.
