Chelsea clarified the lineup leak incident before the PSG match, while reassuring Enzo Fernandez's future after controversial statements that worried fans about potential departure.
According to French media, Chelsea's starting lineup was accurately revealed hours before the first leg UEFA Champions League in Paris took place. Even information that Wesley Fofana would be rested in the return leg was leaked early. Given this situation, The Blues' coaching staff quickly launched an investigation.
Coach Liam Rosenior confirmed the club found the source of the information leak and handled it internally. He emphasized that the incident did not originate from any player in the team: “We know where this came from. It was not malicious toward me or the team. We have dealt with it.”
Chelsea believes the leaked information came from an external factor outside the club, thereby somewhat reducing concerns about instability in the dressing room.
Additionally, the defeat against PSG brought another issue as Enzo Fernandez cast doubt on his future at Stamford Bridge. After the match, the Argentine midfielder did not confirm he would stay with the club next season when responding to ESPN: “I don't know. There are still eight matches and the FA Cup ahead. Then comes the World Cup, and then we'll see.”
However, Coach Rosenior quickly reassured the public after a direct conversation with his player. He affirmed Fernandez is fully committed to Chelsea: “I had a very open conversation with Enzo. He clearly stated he is happy here, wants to win, and is very eager to succeed with the team.”
Rosenior also suggested Enzo Fernandez's statement was somewhat misunderstood due to language and emotional factors.
Joining Chelsea for a fee up to £105 million, Enzo Fernandez is considered one of the rare successful signings under BlueCo. This season, he leads the team in many attacking metrics and is one of the standout players alongside Joao Pedro.
Therefore, the prospect of Fernandez leaving is worrying fans, especially in a context where other key players like Cole Palmer could also be affected in a chain reaction.
