Japan's star call-up, Thailand U23 aims to surprise Vietnam

Thailand U23 draws attention by summoning Teerapat Pruetong, who is playing in Japan, ready to face Vietnam U23 in the CFA Team China Cup 2026.

Thailand U23 is demonstrating strong determination before the CFA Team China Cup 2026 by assembling their strongest squad, notably including Teerapat Pruetong – a player currently competing in Japan. His return is considered a major highlight of this roster, especially as the Golden Temple nation's team prepares to clash with Vietnam U23.

Teerapat Pruetong is currently registered with Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo, a club playing in J-League 2. After concluding the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026 finals, this midfielder quickly moved to Japan to play and made his debut in mid-February. His recall to Thailand U23 shows he remains a key figure in the coaching staff's personnel plans.

Under the guidance of coach Thawatchai Damrong-Ongtrakul, Thailand U23 brings to China a nearly optimal lineup. Domestic clubs also facilitated by agreeing to release players, helping the national team avoid a shortage of personnel – a situation often occurring when the tournament is not within FIFA Days.

Not only Teerapat, Thailand U23 also possesses many notable faces such as Kakana Khamyok, Thanakrit Chotimueangpak, Theekawin Chansri, and Pichitchai Sienkrthok. Most of these players already have experience playing in the Thai League and are within the 22–23 age range, providing clear advantages in physicality and match experience.

Meanwhile, Vietnam U23 approaches the tournament with a younger squad, mainly consisting of players aged 20–21. The disparity in age and playing experience could make the encounter between the two teams unpredictable, especially as Thailand is showing ambition to test their strongest lineup.

According to the match schedule, the game between Vietnam U23 and Thailand U23 in the CFA Team China Cup 2026 will take place on March 28. With additions from overseas players like Teerapat Pruetong, Thailand U23 clearly does not hide its ambition to assert strength and gain psychological advantage over regional rivals.
