Coach Vu Hong Viet commended Xuan Son after his brilliant display in the National Cup quarter-finals.
On March 18th evening, Nam Dinh secured a 2-1 victory away at Da Nang in the National Cup quarter-finals, officially advancing to the semi-finals. The visiting team established an early advantage in the first half when forward Nguyen Xuan Son opened the scoring in the 28th minute, before Chadrac Akolo Ababa doubled the lead in the 39th minute, allowing Nam Dinh to control the match.
In the second half, Da Nang pushed forward aggressively to seek a comeback. Their efforts were rewarded in the 58th minute when Nguyen Phi Hoang scored to narrow the gap to 1-2. However, that was all the home team could achieve as Nam Dinh played solidly in the remaining time to preserve the victory.
This victory marks an impressive streak for Nam Dinh under Coach Vu Hong Viet. Since returning to lead the team, he has helped them achieve four consecutive wins across all competitions. Specifically in the V.League, the recent three-match winning streak has opened opportunities for the Nam Dinh side to compete for higher positions on the league table.
After the match, Coach Vu Hong Viet particularly praised forward Nguyen Xuan Son, who continues to demonstrate consistent form before joining the Vietnam national team. He emphasized that despite being tightly marked by opponents, Xuan Son still knew how to shine at the right moment to secure the crucial goal.
The coach further analyzed the match situation, stating that playing away is always a major challenge. Da Nang possesses a quality squad; even considering Vietnamese overseas players, their lineup is akin to having four foreign players. Nevertheless, Nam Dinh maintained focus and high spirit to overcome the difficulties.
Looking ahead, Coach Vu Hong Viet affirmed that Nam Dinh sets very high goals in the National Cup, while also needing to maintain stability in the V.League. After this win, the whole team will have a short break before returning to training, preparing for V.League round 17 in early April.
Xuan Son sends a strong signal to Coach Kim Sang Sik ahead of the match against Malaysia.
