Bayern Munich continues to demonstrate superior strength in the UEFA Champions League by defeating Atalanta BC 4-1 in the return leg, thereby securing an overall 10-2 victory and advancing to the Champions League quarter-finals.
This marks their largest margin of victory in the European cup knockout stage since 2009.
Despite needing to score at least five goals at the Allianz Arena, a feat never achieved by any team there in continental competition, Atalanta was quickly swept into the dominant flow of the home team's game.
Goalkeeper Marco Sportiello repeatedly showcased his skills, but the turning point occurred when VAR confirmed the ball touched Giorgio Scalvini's hand inside the penalty area.
Harry Kane's initial penalty was saved due to Sportiello leaving the line early, but on the retake, the English striker did not falter and opened the scoring. Atalanta attempted to respond and nearly had a golden opportunity when Charles De Ketelaere broke through, but could not finish successfully.

After the break, Bayern increased pressure and displayed superior class. Kane continued to shine with a classy turn-and-finish to extend the lead, before Lennart Karl scored the third goal following an assist from Luis Díaz.
Not stopping there, Díaz himself sealed the 4-1 victory with a delicate lob in a counterattack situation, pushing the aggregate score into double digits. Atalanta's late efforts only earned them a consolation goal courtesy of Lazar Samardzic after Mario Pašalić's assist.
This dominant victory marks Bayern's 9th win in 10 Champions League matches this season, simultaneously sending them into the quarter-finals to face the "King of Europe," Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, Atalanta officially concludes its continental journey, unable to replicate the miracle achieved against Borussia Dortmund or the 2024 Europa League championship.
