The Malaysian national team was handed a 0-3 defeat in five matches, plummeting uncontrollably on the FIFA rankings.

Due to the 0-3 forfeits in matches against the Nepal and Vietnam national teams, the "Malayan Tigers" officially incurred five match losses in 2025.

On March 17th, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) officially issued penalties to the Malaysian Football Association and its national team for matches within the Asian Cup 2027 qualifying framework. Accordingly, FAM was fined USD 50,000, while the Malaysian national team was penalized with a 0-3 loss in two matches against Nepal and Vietnam.

Thus, within just a few months, the Malaysian national team was handed forfeits by FIFA and AFC in five matches. Below are the five matches where the "Malayan Tigers" were penalized with a 0-3 loss (based on official decisions from late 2025 to March 2026):

Malaysia vs Cape Verde (friendly match, May 29, 2025) Actual result: Draw 1-1. FIFA declared Malaysia a 0-3 loser in December 2025 due to using an ineligible player. This was one of three friendly matches whose results were overturned simultaneously, contributing to the team's FIFA ranking points decline.

Malaysia vs Singapore (friendly match, September 4, 2025) Actual result: Win 2-1. Similarly, FIFA penalized a 0-3 loss due to player eligibility violations (decision issued concurrently with the Cape Verde and Palestine matches).

Malaysia vs Palestine (friendly match, September 8, 2025) Actual result: Win 1-0. Declared a 0-3 loser by FIFA per disciplinary rulings in December 2025, the third match in the trio of friendlies affected by the naturalization scandal.

Malaysia vs Nepal (Asian Cup 2027 qualifier, March 25, 2025) Actual result: Win 2-0. AFC officially penalized a 0-3 loss on March 17, 2026, due to violating Article 56 of the Disciplinary & Ethics Code (using an invalid player). This match contributed to Malaysia's elimination from the qualifiers.

Malaysia vs Vietnam (Asian Cup 2027 qualifier, June 10, 2025) Actual result: Win 4-0 (a highly controversial match). AFC penalized a 0-3 loss on March 17, 2026, concurrently with the Nepal match. This sanction directly helped the Vietnam national team secure a ticket to the Asian Cup 2027 finals, as Malaysia suffered heavy point deductions and dropped in Group F standings.

The forfeits also led to significant consequences for Malaysian football. Specifically, with the forfeits against Nepal and Vietnam, the "Malayan Tigers" will lose approximately 50 points, falling 15 places to the 136th position worldwide. Previously, after the three friendly matches, Malaysia had already dropped five places.
