Vietnam's national team officially advances, coach Kim Sang Sik immediately takes one action

Coach Kim Sang Sik is highly likely to represent Vietnam's national team at the 2027 Asian Cup Finals draw ceremony.

Vietnam's national team has been officially confirmed by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to participate in the 2027 Asian Cup Finals, after Malaysia was penalized with a 0-3 loss due to rule violations. With this result, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team have early achieved the goal of qualifying.

The draw ceremony for the finals group stage will take place on April 11 at Diriyah Salwa Palace in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is an important event that determines the groups and the journey of teams in the tournament. It is highly probable that coach Kim Sang Sik will personally travel to Saudi Arabia to attend the 2027 Asian Cup Finals group draw ceremony, similar to coach Mai Duc Chung's attendance at the 2026 Women's Asian Cup Finals draw.

The host nation Saudi Arabia is pre-assigned to position A1, playing the opening match on January 7, 2027 at King Fahd Stadium. Their opponent will be the team designated as A4, determined after the draw ceremony.

In the qualifiers, Vietnam's team leads Group F with 15 points and had already secured advancement before the final match against Malaysia on March 31. AFC also confirmed Vietnam as the 21st out of 24 teams to earn a Finals spot.

The remaining three spots will be decided after the final round of qualifiers, with the competing pairs including Tajikistan – Philippines (Group A), Lebanon – Yemen (Group B), and Thailand – Turkmenistan (Group D).

The 2027 Asian Cup will take place from January 7 to February 5, 2027 in three cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, and Al Khobar. King Fahd Stadium (72,000 seats) will host the opening match and many important games, while venues like King Abdullah Sports City and stadiums in Al Khobar will also host matches from the group stage to the semifinals.
