Identify the first three players called up to the Vietnam national team by the Brazilian coach

The trio of SLNA players are the first names summoned by coach Roland to the Vietnam U17 team for the upcoming training camp.

On the afternoon of March 17th, Song Lam Nghe An Club received a document from VFF summoning Quan Thanh Cong, Nguyen Minh Thuy, and Tran Ngoc Son to the Vietnam U17 national team, preparing for a series of important tournaments in 2026.

All three have already played in the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup qualifiers, contributing to Vietnam U17's perfect record of 5 wins, 30 goals scored, and no goals conceded. Notably, Minh Thuy is a player frequently trusted by coach Cristiano Roland, while Ngoc Son leaves an impression every time he plays, and Thanh Cong accumulates experience and gradually proves himself in the defense.

Vietnam U17 will have two important tasks in 2026: the 2026 ASEAN U17 Championship and the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup Finals. The ASEAN championship will serve as a stepping stone for coach Cristiano Roland and his team to prepare for participation in the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup Finals, competing for a spot in the FIFA U17 World Cup Finals for the first time at the U17 level.

According to the plan, the 2026 ASEAN U17 Championship will take place from April 11th to 23rd, 2026 in Indonesia. The matches will be held at two stadiums: Gelora Joko Samudro (Gresik) and Gelora Delta (Sidoarjo). The draw results placed the Vietnam U17 team in Group A alongside Indonesia, Malaysia, and Timor-Leste.

Besides the significance of a regional competition, this tournament is also seen as a crucial momentum-building step for national teams aiming for the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup Finals scheduled for May in Saudi Arabia. This is an opportunity for teams to refine their squads, test formations, and accumulate international match experience for young players.

In the other two groups, Group B consists of Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, and the Philippines; while Group C includes Australia, Cambodia, Singapore, and Brunei. To prepare for the 2026 ASEAN U17 Championship and subsequently the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup Finals, the Vietnam U17 team is expected to regroup in early April.
