Before the match started, television cameras captured the moment Tudor approached and patted the shoulder of someone he thought was Liverpool's coach Arne Slot to greet him. However, the Croatian strategist made a mistake because the person standing before him was Tottenham's assistant Allan Dixon, who bears a resemblance to Slot with his bald head. Both Dixon and Tudor appeared confused after this incident, before the Spurs coach turned away to find the correct person to greet on Liverpool's bench.

The humorous incident quickly spread on social media, especially in the context of Tudor facing significant pressure due to poor performance since taking over Tottenham. Before this match, he had not achieved any wins in the Premier League after five matches in charge, with four losses and one draw.

Tottenham's situation became even more concerning as they are very close to the relegation zone. The London club is only one point ahead of their direct competitors Nottingham Forest and West Ham United, making the risk of relegation increasingly apparent.

On the field, the match against Liverpool also unfolded with intense tension. Dominik Szoboszlai opened the scoring for Liverpool in the 18th minute with a beautiful direct free kick.
