Vietnamese overseas striker gathers Vietnam U19 team

Striker Antonio Moric (NK Trnje Club – Croatia) is included in the Vietnam U19 national team's first gathering list for 2026.

Antonio Moric, born in 2008, has Vietnamese and Croatian heritage, stands 1.81m tall, and is highly regarded for his versatile playing ability.

Moric can play as a central midfielder and also performs well as a left or right winger.

His flexible style allows this young player to adapt easily to various tactical systems. Despite his youth, Antonio Moric has already made several appearances for NK Trnje's first team recently.

Besides the "new face," this gathering list includes many players who have previously represented national youth teams such as Vietnam U16, U17, and U18, including Nguyễn Đức Nhật, Lê Minh Nhật, Bạch Trọng Dương, Nguyễn Văn Quân, Nguyễn Thiên Phú, Nguyễn Hoàng Nam, Đinh Xuân Khải… These are all players with international youth competition experience and are expected to form the core of the Vietnam U19 team.

Additionally, goalkeeper Nguyễn Bá Nhật Ka appears. With a height of 1.96m, Nhật Ka currently plays for Ryukei University Football Club in Japan.

Previously, this goalkeeper participated in training with the Vietnam U20 team during their preparation camp in Japan in 2024 for the 2025 AFC U20 Asian Cup qualifiers.

According to the plan, the Vietnam U19 national team will assemble and train from March 17 to March 29 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. To maximize efficiency in screening and evaluating the squad, Coach Yutaka Ikeuchi will not limit the selection to the initial list of 31 players.

After about a week of training, the coaching staff will conduct a selection process, expected to reduce the squad to 10-15 players, while also calling up approximately 10 additional players not in the initial list.

This plan aims to foster positive competition within the team and provide the coaching staff with a broader basis for comprehensively evaluating the squad, thereby selecting the most suitable candidates for the Vietnam U19 team as it prepares for important upcoming tournaments.
