The eagerly awaited clash between the European champion and the Copa America champion will be held at Santiago Bernabeu, following the cancellation of the Qatar venue due to security issues.

The Finalissima between the Spanish and Argentine national teams has finally determined its host venue. According to multiple sources from Spanish media such as COPE and Cadena SER, the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid has been selected to host this special match, though some final administrative procedures remain to be completed before an official announcement.

The Finalissima is a match between the European champion and the South American champion; this edition will feature a clash between Spain—the Euro 2025 winner—and Argentina—the Copa America 2024 champion. Initially, the match was planned to be held at Lusail Stadium in Doha, Qatar, in late March.

However, political tensions and complex security conditions in the Middle East, particularly involving Iran, forced the organizers to seek a safer alternative venue.

During the search for a new venue, multiple options were considered. Madrid emerged as the most logical choice due to its infrastructure, capacity for hosting major events, and the suitable scheduling of stadiums in Europe.

The Santiago Bernabeu stadium is considered a venue that fully meets the requirements for capacity, security, and organizational capability for an international-level match. It is also a recently renovated modern stadium, capable of hosting an event that attracts global fan attention.

The choice of Bernabeu initially sparked some debate. The Argentine side was reportedly not entirely comfortable playing in Spain, as it could provide a psychological advantage to the Spanish team. However, due to no other large international stadium being available at that time, the parties eventually reached an agreement to bring the match to Madrid.

With this decision, the Spanish national team will return to play at Bernabeu after two years. The last time La Roja appeared at this stadium was a friendly match against Brazil in March 2024, which ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw.
