Paris Saint-Germain orchestrated a dazzling night at Parc des Princes as they overcame Chelsea 5-2 in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg.
From a precise cross into the box, João Neves leapt high to head the ball, setting up Bradley Barcola to slot home a neat finish, putting the Parisian capital club ahead.
However, Chelsea did not take long to respond. In the 28th minute, from a lofted, highly accurate pass by Enzo Fernández, wing-back Malo Gusto surged forward to control the ball and unleashed a sharp angled shot, beating the PSG goalkeeper and restoring parity.
The remaining minutes of the first half saw an open contest with numerous thrilling exchanges. When the half seemed destined to end level, PSG unexpectedly surged ahead again. In the 40th minute, during a rapid counter-attack, Ousmane Dembélé displayed deft skill by evading the defender before finishing close-range, giving the hosts a 2-1 lead before the break.
Entering the second half, the English side played with great determination seeking an equalizer. Their efforts were rewarded in the 57th minute when Pedro Neto provided a convenient assist for Enzo Fernández to execute a one-touch finish inside the box, leveling the score at 2-2.
Nevertheless, the turning point of the match arrived in the 74th minute following an unfortunate mistake by goalkeeper Filip Jørgensen. Capitalizing on the Chelsea keeper's unsafe handling, Vitinha seized the ball just outside the box and promptly struck, putting PSG ahead 3-2.
As Chelsea had to push their formation higher in search of a goal, the gaps in their defense were continuously exploited. In the 86th minute, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia fired a beautiful long-range shot to make it 4-2. Not stopping there, the Georgian star shone again during added time by completing a brace, sealing a 5-2 victory for PSG.
