Indonesia will definitely lose one naturalized star when facing the Vietnam national team.

The Indonesian national team will be without the contribution of naturalized player Miliano Jonathans in the 2026 ASEAN Cup as this striker has sustained a knee ligament rupture injury.

The absence of this striker, who is currently playing in Europe, is considered a significant loss for the archipelago nation's squad ahead of the regional tournament.

According to information from his club, Jonathans suffered a knee ligament tear during a match in the Dutch national league. The injury occurred when the 2004-born forward participated in the game between Excelsior and Heerenveen, forcing him to leave the field just minutes after being substituted in.

Specifically, Jonathans was brought onto the field in the 72nd minute but encountered issues after a collision with an opponent. Following a foul by a Heerenveen player, the young forward showed signs of pain and could not continue playing, compelling the coaching staff to substitute him off in the 81st minute.

Medical examination results after the match revealed that Jonathans had torn knee ligaments and requires long-term treatment. According to the medical team's assessment, this player will need to rest for at least approximately six months for full recovery before returning to the pitch.

With such a treatment period, Jonathans will certainly miss the 2026 ASEAN Cup – the tournament scheduled for July and August this year. Previously, the Indonesian national team was expected to fully call up all naturalized players abroad to strengthen the squad's power.
