Behind the shifts in V-League

The appointment of Mr. Vu Tien Thanh, Director of Ham Rong Academy and Technical Director of HAGL Club, to take on the coaching role at Ninh Binh team, replacing Mr. Gerard Albadalejo, has attracted significant public attention recently.

On the HAGL Club's official website, Mr. Thanh also confirmed this information after a meeting with leadership levels. However, looking broadly at the flow of Vietnamese football over the past two decades, personnel fluctuations or changes in the operational models of clubs have not been uncommon.

V-League history has witnessed numerous turning points: from transfers of club names, changes in governing units, to rapid mergers. Vietnamese professional football is still in the process of refining regulations to adapt to market realities. Recall just a few years ago, the incident involving conflicts of sponsor interests between an energy drink brand and the league's main sponsor sparked heated debates.

Ultimately, everything must operate based on established common rules, though sometimes the rigidity of regulations also brings considerable difficulties for clubs in mobilizing socialized resources.

In reality, finding financial resources to sustain a club in V-League with budgets of hundreds of billions of dong annually is an extremely challenging problem. In the context where domestic football cannot yet be self-sufficient, the emergence of large economic corporations acting as "midwives" for multiple clubs simultaneously is an objective reality.

The relationship between these units creates an ecosystem that mutually supports both financial resources and personnel, not only in V-League but also extending down to the First Division or grassroots tournaments.

Looking back at history, Vietnamese football has witnessed periods dominated by club models sharing influence from large financial institutions. These "empires" not only contributed in terms of achievements with a series of championships but also served as places for coordinating personnel and experienced coaching staff.

The dynamics of the times always create new counterweights. If previously, people often mentioned the influence of certain corporate names in Hanoi or Da Nang, now, the rise of new units with strong potential is gradually changing the domestic football map.

Personnel transfers like Mr. Vu Tien Thanh's case essentially reflect flexibility in utilizing internal "brainpower" among units considered to have connections.

Choosing an experienced commander with deep understanding of domestic football to solve immediate performance issues is a tactical decision by the owners.

Ultimately, while football is still struggling to find solutions for financial autonomy and transparency, compromises or collaborations between governing units are unavoidable to maintain the existence of clubs.

Instead of seeking answers to superficial doubts, perhaps what fans need to focus on more is the professional effectiveness these changes bring to the league.
