Lewandowski officially speaks out about his future at Barcelona

Forward Robert Lewandowski has broken his silence regarding his Barcelona future with his contract approaching its end, while speculation mounts that he could switch to Major League Soccer.

Veteran striker Robert Lewandowski has finally commented on his future at Barcelona, with his contract at Camp Nou winding down and strong rumors emerging about a possible transfer to Major League Soccer.

At 37 years old, the Polish goalscorer admits he feels no pressure to make an immediate decision about the next step in his career. This season, Lewandowski's role at Barcelona has diminished significantly under coach Hansi Flick, with his playing time being limited.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Lewandowski stated he is approaching his future calmly and cautiously: “The good thing is I'm not under pressure. If I were 30 or a few years younger, the feeling might be very different. But right now, I don't need to know immediately. I have patience,” Lewandowski shared.

He also revealed he will take about three months to consider before making a final decision. “I will give myself about three months to decide what I want to do. It's just me,” the Polish forward added.

Although still content with life in La Liga, Lewandowski has recently been strongly linked with a move to play in MLS. According to multiple reports, Chicago Fire FC is currently the frontrunner to sign him on a free transfer.

Recalling past turning points, Lewandowski also recounted how he nearly joined Blackburn Rovers while at Borussia Dortmund, but the deal collapsed due to a volcanic ash cloud that canceled his flight. He also once received interest from Manchester United's legendary manager Alex Ferguson.

After a prolific previous season with 42 goals across all competitions, Lewandowski is experiencing a more difficult campaign with only 14 goals so far. Meanwhile, Ferran Torres is increasingly becoming the preferred choice as the central striker in Flick's system.

Nevertheless, Lewandowski still hopes to get more playing opportunities in the coming period, starting with the La Liga match against Athletic Club. Afterwards, Barcelona will turn their attention to the UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against Newcastle United. This could be a crucial phase in determining the future of the legendary Polish striker.
