Former U23 Vietnam goalkeeper officially finds new club

Goalkeeper Nguyen Van Toan officially joins SHB Da Nang on loan from Hai Phong until the end of the 2025/26 season, starting to play from round 15 of V.League.

Goalkeeper Nguyen Van Toan officially joins SHB Da Nang on loan from Hai Phong FC and will play from round 15 of V.League 2025/26 until the season's end. The arrival of the 1999-born goalkeeper is expected to help the Han River team address their shortage of personnel in the goalkeeping position.

The deal was finalized right after the match between Hai Phong and Dong A Thanh Hoa in round 14. After the match, Van Toan bid farewell to his teammates to complete the transfer procedures. This is considered a suitable solution as this goalkeeper did not have many playing opportunities at Hai Phong due to competition with Nguyen Dinh Trieu.

Meanwhile, SHB Da Nang is facing major difficulties in the goalkeeper position. Both options, Dang Tuan Hung and Bui Tien Dung, are injured, forcing the club to use young goalkeeper Quoc Bao from the youth team. Therefore, the addition of Van Toan is seen as a necessary measure to strengthen the squad's depth.

At Chi Lang Stadium, Van Toan will compete for the starting spot with Phan Van Bieu. Each goalkeeper has their own strengths, and the final decision will depend on the assessment of coach Le Duc Tuan. In the context of SHB Da Nang still being at the bottom of the standings, any quality addition is of significant importance.

Nguyen Van Toan once won the SEA Games with the U23 Vietnam team.

Nguyen Van Toan developed from the Hai Phong youth academy and was once one of the prominent figures in the port city's football. He played for the U23 Vietnam national team and, under coach Park Hang-seo's guidance, won the Gold Medal at the 30th SEA Games with the team.

Born on November 26, 1999, standing 1.86m tall, Van Toan is highly rated for his good physique, quick reflexes, and experience playing at various levels. The move to SHB Da Nang is seen as an opportunity for this goalkeeper to regain his form, while also helping to solidify the defense for the Han River team during a crucial phase of the season.
