Former U23 Vietnam goalkeeper joins new club?

Multiple reports indicate that goalkeeper Nguyễn Văn Toản has said goodbye to Hải Phòng FC and will compete for SHB Đà Nẵng on loan.

As reported by various sources, immediately after the match between Hải Phòng and Thanh Hóa in round 14 of V-League 2025/26, goalkeeper Nguyễn Văn Toản bid farewell to his teammates. The 1999-born goalkeeper will join SHB Đà Nẵng on loan until the end of the season, as both clubs have their own personnel considerations.

At Hải Phòng, Văn Toản's playing opportunities have been shrinking. The consistent performance of Nguyễn Đình Triệu has almost secured the number one spot in goal, leaving Văn Toản primarily as a backup. This season, Văn Toản has not started a single match. Therefore, seeking a new destination has become a logical choice for him to maintain match fitness.

On the other hand, SHB Đà Nẵng finds itself in a situation where it urgently needs to add a goalkeeper. The consecutive injuries to Đặng Tuấn Hưng and Bùi Tiến Dũng have left the Han River-based club in a difficult position. Previously, they had to call up Quốc Bảo from the youth team, but clearly, the coaching staff hopes Văn Toản's experience will help strengthen the defense during the crucial stage of the relegation battle.

At Chi Lăng Stadium, Văn Toản will compete for the starting spot with Phan Văn Biểu. His arrival gives coach Lê Đức Tuấn an additional option in goal. Following an important victory against PVF-CAND, SHB Đà Nẵng has somewhat rekindled hope of escaping the bottom of the table, and Văn Toản's experience could become a key factor in the journey ahead.

Developed from the Hải Phòng youth academy, Văn Toản was once considered a great hope for the Port city's football. He, alongside Bùi Tiến Dũng, was part of the journey to win the gold medal at the 2019 SEA Games, a historic tournament for Vietnamese men's football under coach Park Hang-seo.

However, injuries and fierce competition at the club level have stalled this goalkeeper's career in recent seasons. Therefore, this "move" to Đà Nẵng is not just a temporary solution, but also an opportunity for Văn Toản to rejuvenate himself.
