Indonesian national team left-back Calvin Verdonk played a part in Lille advancing to the UEFA Europa League round of 16.
In the second leg of the play-off round held early on February 27 at Rajko Mitic Stadium, Verdonk was substituted on during extra time and contributed to Lille's 2-0 victory over Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade), securing a 2-1 aggregate win over the two legs.
In this match, Lille started strongly. In the 4th minute, Olivier Giroud headed in from Benjamin Andre's cross, opening the scoring for the visitors and leveling the aggregate at 1-1. The early goal boosted Lille's confidence.
