The Vietnam women's national team has completed the selection of its 26 players for the upcoming 2026 Women's Asian Cup finals in March.
Ahead of the Vietnam women's national team's final training session on the afternoon of February 26, before departing for Australia to compete in the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup finals, head coach Mai Duc Chung expressed satisfaction with the team's preparation process and their determined spirit.
Also today, the coaching staff officially confirmed the 26-player roster for the Vietnam women's national team participating in the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup finals. Notably, forward Nguyen Thi Tuyet Ngan (HCMC Women's Football Club) was added to the list and joined the team from February 18, 2026, replacing a previously injured player and bolstering the team's attacking strength.
According to the match schedule, the Vietnam women's national team is in Group C and will face the India women's national team (March 4), the Chinese Taipei women's national team (March 7), and the Japan women's national team (March 10). All matches will take place in Perth, Australia. The top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarter-finals.
Prior to the 2026 Women's Asian Cup finals, the Vietnam women's national team played a total of four friendly matches against two opponents: Uzbekistan and China. Coach Mai Duc Chung's squad won one and lost one against Uzbekistan at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center and lost both friendlies against China during their training camp in the host country.
According to Coach Mai Duc Chung, the coaching staff has now fully completed all planned training programs. "We are very pleased that the training plans have been well executed. This outcome is the result of the hard work from both the coaching staff and the athletes over the past period," he shared.
Another positive sign is the team's lineup gradually stabilizing as many injured players have recovered in time. "Nothing is more joyful than seeing the athletes return to form. Currently, it can be said the team is 100% prepared for the tournament."
