Following a splendid period in Spain's capital, French striker Antoine Griezmann is approaching a significant career crossroads.
According to multiple sources in Spain, the 2018 World Cup winner is ready to leave Atletico Madrid and join Orlando City in Major League Soccer (MLS).
Reportedly, negotiations are in the final stages and the deal could be completed before the current MLS player registration window closes. Although still a key player for coach Diego Simeone this season, Griezmann appears prepared to depart the Metropolitano stadium for a new challenge in sunny Florida.

The 2018 World Cup champion Griezmann is preparing to leave Atletico Madrid to join Orlando City in Major League Soccer (MLS).
This news is surprising as Atletico Madrid is still competing in the Champions League and domestic leagues. However, the appeal of the American soccer project and the desire to fulfill his dream of playing in MLS seem to have convinced the 34-year-old forward.
Before officially departing, Griezmann is expected to play three more matches for "Los Rojiblancos", including an away game against Oviedo and the second leg of the Copa del Rey semifinal against Barcelona.
His final match for Atletico will likely take place on March 7th at home against Real Sociedad – the club where he began his professional career, creating a fitting moment to conclude his La Liga journey.
Orlando City's sporting director Ricardo Pereira is said to have traveled to Spain multiple times to advance the deal. Previously, Inter Miami had contacted Griezmann, but their inability to free up a "Designated Player" slot opened the door for Orlando City.
Coach Diego Simeone, who has been closely associated with Griezmann's greatest successes in Madrid, expressed understanding. He shared emotionally: "I hope he chooses what is best for himself, what he truly desires. He deserves that." Simeone previously praised his player upon reaching 200 goals for Atletico, affirming that talent is not limited by age.
If the deal is completed, Atletico Madrid will lose the greatest icon of its modern era, while MLS gains another world-class star. For Griezmann, this is not just a transfer, but a new chapter in the illustrious journey of one of the finest players of his generation.
