Coach Luis Enrique officially speaks about PSG facing Barcelona in the Champions League.

After advancing through the Champions League playoff, Coach Luis Enrique stated that Paris Saint-Germain remains a team that makes every European giant cautious, including Chelsea or Barcelona.

Despite only drawing 2-2 against Monaco at Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain still secured an aggregate 5-4 victory to secure their place in the Champions League round of 16. This result was enough for the reigning European champions to continue their title defense journey, but their performance was not entirely convincing, leading to doubts about their strength compared to the glorious 2024/25 season.

However, Coach Luis Enrique appeared extremely confident. Speaking to Canal+, the Spanish strategist directly responded to doubts surrounding PSG's collective strength. When asked whether the French capital club could maintain the caliber that helped them win the Champions League last season, he replied challengingly: “Ask our opponents. You'll see what they say. Difficult? No! It's very, very difficult to face us. Remember to ask them that.”

According to Enrique, PSG remains a “tactical nightmare” for any coach in Europe. Despite some individual errors against Monaco that made the match tense, he believes their composure in big games will continue to be a foundation. Last season, PSG successively eliminated several English Premier League representatives like Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Arsenal on their way to the title.

The upcoming round of 16 draw ensures PSG will face a heavyweight opponent, either Chelsea or Barcelona. Nevertheless, Enrique affirmed that his team is ready to take on anyone. “We are prepared to face any team, in any arena. Our goal has always been that,” he emphasized.

The 54-year-old manager also mentioned the congested fixture schedule and the widespread injury situation at major clubs this season. According to him, squad depth will play a key role in the decisive phase: “This is a special season because all teams are facing many injuries. For us, having a full squad is crucial. That's not an excuse, but a key factor.”

As the UEFA headquarters draw ceremony approaches, PSG could reunite with Barcelona (Enrique's former club) or enter a major battle with Chelsea. However, in the Spanish strategist's view, the pressure is not on their side. PSG still sees themselves as the team that makes the rest of Europe anxious on their journey to conquer the summit once again.
