The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) recently revealed sanctions against Đình Bắc and the Vietnam U22 squad due to infractions at SEA Games 33 and the 2026 AFC U23 Championship.
Specifically, because he received a red card in the third-place match against U23 South Korea at the 2026 AFC U23 Championship, striker Nguyễn Đình Bắc is suspended for a total of 2 games: 1 match suspension automatically due to the red card, plus an additional 1-match ban imposed by the AFC, along with a fine of 1000 USD.
The fine must be paid within 30 days from the date the decision is issued.

If the player is no longer eligible to participate in the current tournament, the suspension will be carried over to the next official match of the national team as per AFC regulations and the decision of the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee.
Born in 2004, Đình Bắc is overage for the next AFC U23 Championship. Therefore, any suspension will be transferred to the national team level according to the AFC’s disciplinary carryover mechanism.
This means the striker will definitely miss Vietnam’s match against Malaysia in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers at 19:15 on March 31. Additionally, if Vietnam qualifies for the 2027 Asian Cup, Đình Bắc will also be ineligible for the first match.
Meanwhile, due to "Misconduct by team" related to the match between Vietnam U22 and Thailand U22 at SEA Games 33,
the AFC has decided to fine the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) 1500 USD. The fine must be paid within 30 days of receiving the decision.
This is a financial penalty without any accompanying suspension or point deduction.
