Round 14 of the V-League will showcase 4 blazing derbies among Vietnamese clubs, highlighted by the showdown between Thể Công Viettel and Hà Nội FC.
After the break for the 2026 Lunar New Year, the V-League will kick off an exciting second half of the season, starting with 4 derby matches in the opening round (round 14). These matches matter not only for points but also for the pride and resilience of the teams involved.
The opening game is the "Nghe An derby" between Hồng Lĩnh Hà Tĩnh and Sông Lam Nghệ An on February 28. After the first half of the season, Hà Tĩnh has 17 points and currently holds 7th place on the table. This is considered a safe and reasonable position for the mountain team, as stability is their top priority. Meanwhile, a 4-1 victory over Thể Công Viettel in round 13 helped Nghệ An dramatically climb out of the relegation zone to 9th place. This will be a great motivation for coach Văn Sỹ Sơn’s squad in their upcoming away match.
The other three matches will all kick off on March 1. At Thiên Trường Stadium, the defending champions will host their "brother" team Ninh Bình amid tough circumstances: fighting to avoid relegation. After 13 rounds, the Nam Định team has only 12 points and sits third from the bottom. Meanwhile, Ninh Bình is determined to reclaim the top spot from CAHN. Notably, the match will be even more thrilling as Ninh Bình’s coach Albadalejo returns after a suspension, and Nam Định welcomes the incredible comeback of coach Vũ Hồng Việt after a 3-month absence.
On the same day at Hàng Đẫy Stadium, Thể Công Viettel and Hà Nội FC promise a fierce points chase aiming for the top spots. Thể Công Viettel currently leads with 25 points (3rd place), followed closely by Hà Nội FC with 21 points in 4th place. Thể Công Viettel has no rush since even if they lose, their 3rd place position remains secure. Conversely, coach Harry Kewell’s team is determined to seize every point possible in the title race.
In the southern region, the battle between Công an TPHCM and Becamex TPHCM also attracts significant attention from fans. A win could help coach Lê Huỳnh Đức’s squad break into the top 5. This is a feasible goal as their opponents are currently not in their best form. However, anything can happen if Tiến Linh and his teammates lose focus.
