Bruno Fernandes does something rare, young MU star reveals all

Not only shining on the pitch, Bruno Fernandes also earns the respect of Man United's young talents due to his exceptional dedication in training.

Bruno Fernandes has long been regarded as the spiritual leader of Manchester United, but his influence extends beyond official matches. Young defender James Overy recently shared memorable experiences training with the Portuguese captain, highlighting Bruno’s special role in inspiring academy players dreaming of joining the first team.

When asked about the biggest influences on his development, Overy did not hesitate to mention Fernandes. He said: “My father, definitely, but if it’s a player, I would definitely choose Bruno Fernandes.” For this young player, the Man United captain is not only a star but also a role model for attitude and dedication in a professional environment.

The moment that impressed Overy the most happened during a free-kick training session. He recalled: “The last time I trained with him, I got to take free kicks because the regular free-kick taker was injured.” Surprisingly, Bruno took the initiative to spend time guiding the younger player on every small detail, from foot placement to the exact point of contact with the ball.

Overy added: “I kept practicing free kicks, and then he came over and spent a whole hour teaching me each technique. He said, ‘This is how I do it, aiming for this spot, trying to make the ball dip or land exactly there.’ That really made me admire him a lot.” According to the young player, even during training sessions, Bruno consistently maintains high intensity and is one of the standout performers.

James Overy emphasized: “Even in training, he pushes everything forward and is one of the best players, along with Kobs (Kobbie Mainoo). Truly impressive.” These remarks partly explain why Bruno remains a central figure in the dressing room, despite a turbulent season for the Old Trafford team.

Alongside his off-field influence, Bruno Fernandes is also approaching a historic milestone. The Portuguese midfielder is currently in outstanding form away in the Premier League, contributing to 10 goals in the last 9 matches and stands on the verge of breaking Ryan Giggs’s 24-year-old assist record. If he continues this level of performance, he will not only lead Man United back into the top-four race but also cement his position as the new leader at the “Theatre of Dreams.”
