After two straight victories in the group stage, the Australian women's futsal team has officially earned the first spot in the semifinals of the Southeast Asian Futsal Championship 2026.
On the afternoon of February 25th, the second round of matches in Group B, the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship took place. With a 6-1 win over Myanmar, Australia reached 6 points and became the first team to qualify for the semifinals. Earlier on the opening day, the team from the land down under defeated Vietnam 2-0.
Thus, after 2 matches, they are temporarily leading Group B with 6 points and a +7 goal difference. In the final round, Australia will face the Philippines, who recently lost 0-2 to Vietnam. Australia only needs 1 more point to secure the top spot.
As for the Vietnamese women's futsal team, after their 0-2 loss to Australia, coach Nguyễn Đình Hoàng's squad quickly got back on track by defeating the Philippines 2-0 in the second round, rising to second place in the group. In the final match, Vietnam will face Myanmar – a team that has lost both matches and has been eliminated early. If they earn 3 points in this game, Thuỳ Trang and her teammates will almost certainly qualify regardless of other results.
