Ahead of the 2026 AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup, Vietnam's U20 women's squad is set to play two valuable test matches against Uzbekistan.
To prepare for the 2026 AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup, coach Okiyama Masahiko and his team have made meticulous preparations. According to reports, the team will have two final rehearsal matches with Uzbekistan U20 women on March 24 and March 27 in Ho Chi Minh City. These matches are considered crucial tests, helping the coaching staff to review the squad, assess player form, and refine tactics before the official tournament begins.
At the AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup, Uzbekistan U20 women are placed in Group B alongside North Korea, South Korea, and Jordan. In the qualifiers, they impressively topped Group G with 7 points to advance.
Previously, Vietnam U20 women's team assembled on February 23 with 30 players and began physical and tactical training at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. The team also attended a training camp in China from March 6 to March 14 to gain more international match experience.
After completing two important friendlies against Uzbekistan U20 women, the entire team will depart for Thailand on March 29 to compete in the 2026 AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup, where Vietnam U20 women will face opponents in Group A including China, Thailand, and Bangladesh. Therefore, these final two warm-up matches are seen as decisive preparation steps before the main event.
At the 2026 AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup, the four quarterfinal winners (who advance to the semifinals) will earn the right to participate in the 2026 U20 Women's World Cup held in Poland.
