Coach Bruno Cannavan mentioned that he carefully analyzed the Vietnam women's futsal team, enabling them to achieve a 2-0 win on their debut day.
Speaking after the 2-0 win against the Vietnam women's futsal team on the afternoon of February 24th, Australia’s women's futsal coach Bruno Cannavan said:
“I’m very pleased and truly happy to face Vietnam, the reigning champions. It was a very challenging match. Our girls followed the plan and fought until the very last moment to secure the three points. There’s no better feeling than that.”
The strategist revealed that he had extensively studied Vietnam’s playing style beforehand: “We have been analyzing Vietnam for some time. We watched videos of their matches, from the Asian Cup qualifiers to the SEA Games. We know they have developed a lot in the region. We studied all their moves, shots, and power play tactics. Today, I’m glad we were able to stick to the plan.”
According to Coach Bruno Cannavan, the opening victory boosts his team’s confidence ahead of the remaining two group matches and their ultimate goal of winning the championship:
“We are here to compete for the championship. Vietnam’s win in their first match gave us much more confidence,” Coach Cannavan said. "But we haven’t achieved anything yet. We need to go back, discuss, and adjust some details, even without training sessions. But if we want to go all the way, we must keep improving the team.”
In the next round on February 25th, Australia’s women’s futsal team will face Myanmar, while Vietnam will take on the Philippines.
