The FIFA transfer ban on Thanh Hoa Club is anticipated to be removed in the near future.
Thanh Hoa Club’s management stated that the process to lift the FIFA sanction is being expedited. According to the plan, by the morning of February 24th, the club will have completed payment of 2 out of 4 outstanding debts owed to former players and coaching staff – the direct cause of FIFA’s transfer ban. The remaining two penalties are expected to be resolved by February 25th, paving the way for the club to remove restrictions on registering new players.
Previously, FIFA issued a decision banning Dong A Thanh Hoa from registering new players for three consecutive transfer windows, starting from November 2025. Although temporary, the penalty has put the team in a difficult position regarding personnel.
In reality, after the first half of the 2025/26 V.League season, Dong A Thanh Hoa faced many challenges. Unpaid salaries and expenses from the previous season caused FIFA to impose disciplinary measures, significantly affecting the team’s plans to strengthen its squad.
Financial difficulties combined with leadership changes forced Thanh Hoa to part ways with several players such as Nguyen Thai Son, Le Van Thuan, Nguyen Ngoc My, and Hoang Thai Binh. Additionally, experienced players including Que Ngoc Hai, Vo Nguyen Hoang, and Lucas Ribamar also left the team, further thinning the squad.
Despite having only about 17 players left, Coach Mai Xuan Hop has kept the team’s fighting spirit commendable. Thanh Hoa surprised many by drawing against Nam Dinh at home and then winning at the Ho Chi Minh City Police Stadium, demonstrating the collective effort and determination to overcome difficulties.
Alongside resolving disputes to quickly lift the ban, the club’s leadership has planned to strengthen the squad with at least six new players. Once financial obligations are fulfilled, Thanh Hoa hopes to stabilize its roster and gradually overcome this tough period to improve results in the remainder of the season.
