Wolves condemn the racist behavior directed at Tolu Arokodare, including from Vietnamese fans.

Wolves strongly denounce the racist actions targeted at Tolu Arokodare following the defeat to Crystal Palace, which included abusive messages from a Vietnamese Instagram account aimed at the striker.

Wolverhampton officially issued a strong condemnation of the racist behavior against striker Tolu Arokodare after their 0-1 loss to Crystal Palace last weekend, during the 27th round of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

According to the Midlands club’s statement, Arokodare became the target of numerous anonymous social media accounts after missing a penalty in the match against Crystal Palace. Wolves described these actions as “disgusting and illegal,” affirming they will not tolerate any form of discrimination.

Notably, among the evidence Wolves provided to organizers and authorities, there was an Instagram account identified as Vietnamese that sent racially abusive messages aimed at Arokodare. This revelation shocked and outraged the Vietnamese football fan community.

“There is no place for racism in football, online, or anywhere in society. Tolu has our full and unwavering support,” Wolves emphasized in their official statement. The club also confirmed it has reported these posts to the relevant platforms and is working with the Premier League and authorities to identify the individuals behind these accounts.

On his personal page, Arokodare expressed his disappointment: “It’s unbelievable that we still live in an era where people can freely express racist views without facing consequences. People like that have no place in football.”

Among those sending insults was an account from Vietnam.

Arokodare’s case comes amid a wave of other players also targeted by online racial abuse. Wesley Fofana (Chelsea) and Hannibal Mejbri (Burnley) publicly shared hateful messages they received after last weekend’s 1-1 draw. Fofana even expressed pessimism, saying: “It’s 2026 and nothing has changed, no progress at all.”

The anti-discrimination organization Kick It Out also called on social media platforms to strengthen protections for players and improve accountability.

Amid growing outrage, Wolves reaffirmed their commitment to a “zero tolerance” policy, aiming to expose those spreading hate and protect players from anonymous yet toxic online attacks.
