Ninh Binh Football Club began the new year successfully by defeating Ho Chi Minh City Youth 3-0 in a friendly game on the sixth day of Tet holiday.
On the afternoon of February 22 (the sixth day of Tet), Ninh Binh Football Club played their "spring opener" against Ho Chi Minh City Youth, a team competing in the National First Division. In the end, the home team secured a 3-0 win thanks to goals from Fred Friday (a brace) and Quang Vinh. Notably, these scorers are all new signings for the Hoa Lu historic city club.
Although it was a friendly match, the players showed great determination, treating it as an opportunity to strengthen their lineup and tactics before the second half of the 2025/26 V-League season. Accordingly, Ninh Binh FC was the last to break for Tet, training until the morning of the 29th lunar day before the holiday, then resuming practice on the morning of the fourth day of Tet.
In the first half of the season, Ninh Binh FC ranked second with 27 points after 13 matches, two points behind Hanoi Police but having played two more games. Their early training and friendly matches during the New Year show the Hoa Lu team’s strong determination to compete for the championship this season.
According to the schedule, Ninh Binh will visit Thep Xanh Nam Dinh on March 1 for the 14th round of the V-League. This gives the team more than a week to prepare for this crucial match.
Meanwhile, the V-Leaguewill resume this week with two postponed matches from round 10: Thanh Hoa vs Hanoi Police and Viettel vs Nam Dinh. Both matches are set for February 24.
