Klopp dismisses 2 coaches within one week

As Red Bull's Global Football Director, Jurgen Klopp recently executed his second back-to-back coaching overhaul at Paris FC, reinforcing his supreme control.

Since leaving Anfield to take on the executive role overseeing Red Bull's vast club network, Jurgen Klopp has quickly demonstrated that he has not lost his characteristic decisiveness. In less than a week, the German tactician has made two major personnel changes, showcasing an uncompromising spirit to safeguard the corporation's strategic goals.

The latest victim of Klopp's "iron hand" is Stephane Gilli, head coach of Paris FC. The capital city's team is currently in a critical situation, ranking 15th on the table Ligue 1, directly facing the threat of relegation.

Notably, this decision came right after Klopp publicly supported Gilli in a recent interview. However, when on-field results failed to meet expectations, personal feelings had to give way to the club's interests. In a press release dated 22/02/2026, Paris FC confirmed:

“Paris FC announces the termination of cooperation with first-team coach Stephane Gilli, effective from February 22, 2026. Since taking over as head coach in 2023, Stephane has made a significant impact on the club.”

Despite being dismissed, Gilli is still credited for leading Paris FC back to France's top division after nearly half a century. The club praised him for his “unparalleled professional responsibility, tireless work ethic, loyalty, and kindness appreciated by everyone.”

Gilli's removal is just the second piece in Klopp's series of decisive actions. A few days earlier in Austria, coach Thomas Letsch was also dismissed from Red Bull Salzburg after just over a year in charge.

The consecutive departures of two top strategists at Salzburg and Paris highlight Klopp's management style at Red Bull: prioritizing results and strategic direction above all. As Global Football Director, Klopp does not stand on the pitch directly but holds the power of life and death, making key personnel decisions across the entire system.

For Klopp, the priority is survival in Ligue 1 or maintaining dominance in Austria. These swift and firm moves send a clear message to all clubs in the Red Bull system: In Jurgen Klopp's era, no position is untouchable if results are not guaranteed.
