Man City mocks MU fans after painful slip-up in London

The stalemate with West Ham halted MU’s run of five consecutive wins and gave Man City a chance to mock them, prolonging the hair-growing challenge for a devoted “Red Devils” fan.

Man City has just delivered a sharp jab aimed at Manchester United following the 1-1 draw of Michael Carrick’s squad against West Ham at London Stadium. Not only did this result stop the “Red Devils” from extending their winning streak, but it also forced a famous fan to continue growing his hair indefinitely.

The person mentioned is Frank Ilett, owner of the social media account “The United Strand.” Since October 2024, he declared he would not cut his hair until Man Utd won five consecutive matches across all competitions. It seemed the 16-month-long challenge was about to end as United secured four straight wins under Carrick, but the draw against West Ham reset everything.

Right after the final whistle, Man City’s official social media account in the US posted a picture of Erling Haaland with his signature long blond hair, accompanied by a cryptic caption: “Growing long hair isn’t wrong.” A short sentence but enough to stir the online community, especially MU fans disappointed that their team missed the chance to complete a five-win streak.

The match at London Stadium was intense as expected. West Ham played disciplined football and took the lead through Tomas Soucek, assisted by Jarrod Bowen. Man Utd struggled but managed to secure a point thanks to a late equalizer from Benjamin Sesko. Although Carrick maintained an unbeaten record since taking charge, a draw wasn’t enough for “The United Strand” to visit the barber after nearly 500 days of waiting.

Not only Man City, but Bayern Munich also joined the fun by posting a humorous status suggesting there’s still time to become their fan if one wants to cut hair soon, accompanied by a sarcastic scissors emoji.

Ilett’s hair has now become a symbol of Man Utd’s instability over the past two seasons. While Man City continues to enjoy trolling their rivals alongside consistent results, “Red Devils” supporters will likely have to wait longer both for a genuine winning streak and the anticipated haircut.
