Before the 2026 Lunar New Year of the Horse, representing the leadership of the Vietnam Football Federation, General Secretary Nguyễn Văn Phú directly came to the field to wish the coaching staff and players of the two youth women's squads who are training at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center a happy New Year.
According to the schedule, the players will have their Tet break from February 12 and will resume training on February 23 (the 7th day of Tet). The VFF has carefully coordinated the organization and transportation arrangements to ensure players can return to their hometowns to celebrate Tet with their families.
Meeting with the young players, the General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation Nguyễn Văn Phú inquired about their training progress, daily living conditions, and plans for returning home for Tet; he also conveyed New Year wishes from the Executive Committee and the entire VFF staff to the players' families.
Encouraging the two youth squads, General Secretary Nguyễn Văn Phú acknowledged the players’ dedication and serious training efforts recently, expressing hope that they will follow in the footsteps of the senior generation—those currently competing and training internationally and aiming for major continental tournaments. The VFF believes that from today's youth talent pool, many outstanding players will emerge to contribute to the national women's teams in the future.
On the occasion of the early spring, the VFF presented Tet gifts to all players of the two teams before they reunited with their families.
The meeting took place in a warm and joyful atmosphere, motivating the young female players to continue their hard work and prepare for important challenges in 2026.
In 2026, the Vietnam U17 women's team will participate in the AFC U17 Championship 2026, held in China from May 1 to 17. Tomorrow, February 12, the group draw will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. According to the seeding, the Vietnam U17 women's team is placed in the third seed group.
