Coach Nguyễn Việt Thắng clarifies why Đồng Nai was unable to win against Trẻ PVF-CAND in the ninth round.
On the evening of February 8, Trường Tươi Đồng Nai Football Club unexpectedly drew 1-1 with Trẻ PVF-CAND in the ninth round of the National First Division.
Coach Nguyễn Việt Thắng’s team started the match determined to extend their impressive streak, but soon revealed difficulties in organizing their play. The absence of key players like Công Phượng and the prolific scorer Lưu Tự Nhân caused challenges in midfield control and launching attacks. Facing the opponent’s fast, high-intensity pressing style, the home team failed to dominate the game as expected. In fact, it was Trẻ PVF-CAND who managed to score first.
When asked about the reasons for this result, Coach Việt Thắng openly mentioned the impact of the weather: "Normally, we play on a dry pitch, but today the drizzle and slippery surface affected our style. However, our players really gave their best on this field, and I want to thank them."
"PVF-CAND is a young team but has a solid foundation. Today, with the wet and slippery conditions, they pressed aggressively, which disrupted our game plan," Coach Việt Thắng praised the home team.
Finally, the strategist from Vietnam once again emphasized: "No two football matches are the same. Today the weather changed unexpectedly. Inside it was 30 degrees, yesterday here it was 20, and now it’s 11 degrees. The rapid change in weather definitely affected the players’ stamina to some extent."
This result gave Đồng Nai just one more point but they maintained their top position with 21 points, extending their lead over second-placed Bà Rịa Vũng Tàu by 4 points.
