Former U23 Vietnam star returns to Hanoi FC

Center-back Vu Tien Long will rejoin Hanoi FC from the upcoming stage of the 2025/26 season.

On its official website, Hanoi FC announced the welcome return of center-back Vu Tien Long for the second half of the 2025/26 V-League: "Welcome back! Vu Tien Long returns to the V-League stage!"

Earlier, at the start of the 2024/25 season, Vu Tien Long was loaned to Quang Nam from Hanoi FC on a one-year contract. During his time with the Quang Nam team, Tien Long appeared in 14 matches across all competitions and provided 1 assist. However, in round 17 against The Cong Viettel Club in April 2025, the 2002-born center-back unfortunately suffered a ligament rupture, which led to surgery and a long-term recovery period.

Vu Tien Long was previously a member of Vietnam’s U19 and U23 teams. He delivered an impressive performance at the 2022 U23 Asian Championship with 1 goal and notable attacking and defensive contributions on the right flank. Before that, Tien Long and Vietnam’s U22 team won the gold medal in men’s football at the SEA Games 31. The 2002-born player also became champion of the 2022 Southeast Asian U23 Championship.

Vu Tien Long’s return is considered a significant boost for Hanoi FC as the capital’s club needs to strengthen depth in defense. The 2002-born center-back not only provides the coaching staff with more options at center-back but can also cover as a fullback thanks to his versatility and strong physical condition. Once fully recovered, Tien Long is expected to help Hanoi FC solidify their defense and foster healthy competition during the second half of the 2025/26 V-League season.
