Following Manchester United’s 2-0 victory over Tottenham last weekend, Red Devils fans were unexpectedly worried when a new video showed Bryan Mbeumo limping off the pitch.
In the match that marked MU’s fourth consecutive win under coach Michael Carrick, Mbeumo was the one to open the scoring. This goal not only laid the foundation for the 2-0 triumph over Tottenham, but also confirmed the impressive form of the 26-year-old forward this season. Since Carrick’s return to the bench, MU has consecutively defeated strong opponents like Manchester City, Arsenal, and most recently Tottenham, achieving a remarkable transformation.
Against Spurs, Mbeumo continued to be one of the standout players. In the very first minute, he nearly scored when his shot went just over the crossbar inside the box. After Tottenham was reduced to 10 men due to Cristian Romero’s red card, more space opened up, which Mbeumo exploited perfectly. He moved cleverly to receive Bruno Fernandes’ delicate backheel and calmly placed a low shot into the corner to give MU the lead before halftime.
Statistics show Mbeumo played 87 minutes, scored 1 goal, took 3 shots, made 3 ball recoveries, and was fouled once. He even had a chance to double the lead late in the game, but regardless, this was another outstanding performance from the Cameroonian star. With this goal, Mbeumo has now scored 9 times in the Premier League after only 20 appearances, also scoring in 3 of the last 4 matches since returning from AFCON.
However, MU’s joy was somewhat overshadowed when a video posted by a user on social media platform X showed Mbeumo leaving Old Trafford limping. This image caused concern among the coaching staff and fans about his availability for the next match.
MU currently trails Aston Villa and Manchester City by just 3 points, while Chelsea remains close behind. The race for the top 4 is becoming extremely fierce, and any slip-up could cost the Red Devils dearly.
In the upcoming round, MU will face West Ham—a team in good form and not an easy opponent. If Mbeumo does not recover in time, this will clearly present a tough challenge for Carrick as the team needs to maintain momentum to secure a Champions League spot.
