Chongqing Tongliang Long: Intense New Signings Announced, Winter Training Progressing Well

Reporter Luming reports With the 2026 CSL season kickoff drawing near, Chongqing Tongliang Long’s winter training is now at a pivotal stage. As a first-time participant in the CSL, the club started its preparations for the new season at the end of 2025, steadily advancing in confirming their home ground, signing players, and tactical adjustments. After resuming training last December, and completing training camps in Haikou, Hainan and Thailand, the newly assembled squad is shaping up well. However, for Liu Jianye, the newly promoted team’s coach leading his first independent CSL campaign, the upcoming season will undoubtedly bring numerous and significant challenges…

Regarding young players, the club officially acquired 19-year-old goalkeeper Yao Haoyang on a permanent transfer. According to Transfermarkt data, Chongqing Tongliang Long paid 7 million yuan for him. Last season, Yao Haoyang started 17 matches for the club and has been selected for various levels of national youth teams.

21-year-old versatile winger Wei Suowei played 14 CSL matches last season for Qingdao Hainiu, averaging 1.9 successful tackles per game with an 81% passing accuracy. The additions of 19-year-old fullback Wang Haowen and 18-year-old defender Yue Ruijie further strengthen the team’s defense and youth reserves, aligning with the club’s long-term development strategy. Wei Suowei signed a five-year contract, highlighting the club’s commitment to his development.

While bringing in young domestic talent, Chongqing Tongliang Long also addressed the need for CSL experience by signing 36-year-old Jin Pengxiang, hoping he can play a mentoring role similar to the retired Huang Xiyang to help young players grow quickly. Additionally, 29-year-old midfielder Chen Chunxin, a product of Shanghai Port’s youth academy, is capable both offensively and defensively, able to play multiple midfield and wing positions. 24-year-old midfielder Liang Weipeng appeared in 29 China League One matches last season, contributing one goal and one assist. These two solid additions deepen the squad’s midfield options.

In terms of foreign players, Chongqing Tongliang Long has put in even more effort. All three foreign players from last season have left. Compared to other CSL clubs whose foreign recruits arrived early for joint training, Chongqing Tongliang Long took more time to carefully select theirs. The officially announced foreign players include Belgian winger Landry Dimata, who brings Champions League experience and joined on loan, representing a highly cost-effective signing. Defensively, 30-year-old Brazilian center-back Lu Kang is tall, strong in duels, with precise defensive positioning and excellent aerial and ball-playing abilities. The club also added former Beijing Guoan foreign center-back Ngadeu, planning to build their defense with a foreign player central defense duo. In midfield, they signed Amadou from Shanghai Shenhua, though he suffered a major injury last season and his form is still recovering.

Among the four announced foreign players, except for Ngadeu, the other three have already arrived in Thailand to join the team. Only one foreign striker spot remains vacant, and the club is still finalizing their choice for this position.

After resuming from the holidays last December, Chongqing Tongliang Long went to Haikou for the first phase of winter training. Early on, due to players Xiang Yuwang and Li Zhenquan competing in the U23 Asian Cup, plus many departures and new signings not yet arrived, the squad was incomplete for a period. Using this incomplete all-Chinese lineup, Tongliang Long played three warm-up matches in Haikou, losing 0-1 to Qingdao West Coast, 0-1 to Dalian Yingbo, and winning 2-0 against Shandong Taishan B team. Compared to last season’s friendlies mostly against China League One and Two teams, this winter training featured noticeably stronger opposition.

During the Thailand training camp, the pace of Chongqing Tongliang Long’s friendlies increased as well. With a lineup mainly composed of new and young players, they drew 1-1 with K League side Anyang FC and 0-0 with Thai League club Rayong FC. Since the foreign players had just joined, these two matches were played with an all-Chinese squad. On February 6th and 7th, against K League’s Suwon and CSL’s Henan team, Chongqing Tongliang Long’s two new foreign players appeared on the field. After a warm-up match against China League One’s Shenzhen Youth on the 13th, the team will conclude this overseas training camp.

Currently, Chongqing Tongliang Long club is fully advancing preparations for the new season’s home ground and ticketing arrangements. Over the next month, the team plans to fill positional gaps, continue refining the new squad, and optimize tactical systems, aiming to enter their first-ever CSL season in the best possible condition and strive to firmly establish Chongqing football’s presence in the CSL once again.
