The V.League 2025/2026 transfer window continues to intensify with Hai Phong FC formally giving a chance to Moses Oloya, the Ugandan player who has made a significant impact in Vietnam’s highest football division for more than ten years.
Amidst considerable changes in Hai Phong’s foreign player roster ahead of the second phase of the 2025/2026 season, the coastal club recently decided to trial Moses Oloya at Lach Tray Stadium. Under the direct supervision of coach Chu Dinh Nghiem, the midfielder born in 1992 quickly impressed with his experience, game intelligence, and match reading ability that have been proven in the V.League.
It didn’t take long to convince the coaching staff; Moses Oloya was soon registered by coach Chu Dinh Nghiem to play for Hai Phong in the upcoming phase. On its official fanpage, Hai Phong FC also sent a welcoming message:
“Moses Oloya officially returns to the Coastal team, adding steel, experience, and strength to the midfield for the second half of the V-League 2025/26 season. The Ugandan midfielder will wear the number 8 jersey, a number associated with enduring energy, aggressive playstyle, and a key role in the midfield. Moses’ comeback promises to deepen the squad, foster healthy competition, and boost Hai Phong FC’s strength in the upcoming journey..”
This is not just a professional contract but also a highly anticipated reunion between him and coach Chu Dinh Nghiem, who helped Oloya reach his career peak at Hanoi FC. During his time with the capital club, Oloya was regarded as the "lungs" of the midfield, playing a vital role in winning 2 V.League titles, 2 National Cups, and 3 National Super Cups. Overall, the Ugandan midfielder has claimed 4 V.League championships, 4 National Cups, 3 Super Cups, and 1 First Division title in his career in Vietnam – an achievement few foreign players can match.
Oloya arrived in Vietnam in 2013 wearing the Xuan Thanh Sai Gon jersey, then successively played for Becamex Binh Duong, Hanoi FC, Hai Phong, and returned to Binh Duong in 2023 before heading back home to play for Wakiso Giants. Between his stints in Vietnam, he also spent half a season in Russia with Kuban. With 47 caps for the Uganda national team, Oloya’s international experience is expected to help Hai Phong strengthen their midfield in the crucial stage.
Alongside the Oloya deal, Hai Phong FC also attracted attention by registering the Vietnamese-heritage midfielder Camilo Vasconcelos. Born in 2005, Vasconcelos grew up and trained in Canada, with a Portuguese father and a Vietnamese mother.
The simultaneous arrival of Moses Oloya and Camilo Vasconcelos shows Hai Phong’s careful planning for the decisive phase of the season. One brings experience, composure, and game management; the other brings youth, speed, and unpredictability. If both integrate well, Hai Phong’s midfield is expected to become more balanced and harder to break down.
