The captain of Vietnam U23 skillfully demonstrates how to wrap traditional square sticky rice cakes.

During the days before the 2026 Lunar New Year, midfielder Khuất Văn Khang and the entire staff, coaches, and players across all age categories of Thể Công Viettel displayed their talent in making bánh chưng.

Amid the atmosphere of the year's end, the Thể Công – Viettel Club organized a traditional bánh chưng wrapping event involving all staff, coaches, and players of every age group. This annual activity aims to preserve the beauty of the traditional Tet culture while offering a meaningful experience to the players, especially those spending Tet away from home.

At the gathering, teams within the Thể Công – Viettel system worked together to prepare ingredients, wash dong leaves, wash rice, wrap, and boil the bánh chưng. The event included full participation from youth squads ranging from U13 to the first team, featuring familiar faces such as Khuất Văn Khang, creating a warm and bonding atmosphere.

From young players to professional athletes and coaches, everyone was enthusiastic and meticulous in each step to produce square, attractive bánh chưng. Many members even left personal marks on the cakes they wrapped themselves.

Speaking about this activity, midfielder Khuất Văn Khang shared: “Sitting together with everyone at the club to wash leaves, pound beans, and personally wrap each bánh chưng makes me feel much more relaxed. My heart also beats faster knowing Tet is approaching.”

Meanwhile, for the young players, especially those in the U age group studying and training far from their families, this is a memorable experience on their path to maturity. Player Nguyễn Minh Phước (U13) enthusiastically shared : “Wrapping bánh chưng with friends, seniors, and coaches helps us learn patience and feel the warmth of family right here at the club. Personally, I find wrapping bánh chưng harder than playing football.”
