Jamie Vardy linked with a return to English football

Jamie Vardy is said to have received invitations to come back to English football, even though he has been with Cremonese in Serie A for under a year.

Jamie Vardy, who won the Premier League title in the 2015/16 season with Leicester City, left the “Foxes” after his contract with the club expiredas the team faced relegation to the Championship in the summer of 2025.

The 39-year-old striker then joined the Serie A club Cremonese and has since scored 5 goals in 19 appearances for the Italian side. The team currently sits 15th in the Italian top flight, 6 points clear of the relegation zone after 23 matches this season.

However, life in the peaceful Lombardy region has not been entirely smooth. According to Sky Sports,Vardy’s home by Lake Garda, about an hour from Cremona, was burglarized in November 2025. At the time of the incident, Vardy and his wife Rebekah were not at the £2 million property. According to The Sun,local police reported that cash, jewelry, and a Patek Philippe watch were stolen.

Giacomo Tessarolo, captain of the Carabinieri force in Salo, stated: “We have security footage showing the intruders entering the house through an open window. They stayed inside for a few minutes before leaving with the watch and several valuable items. There was a woman inside, not his wife but a babysitter.”

Could this incident prompt the Vardy family to consider moving back to England?

Although the answer remains uncertain, a former Leicester City teammate revealed that he has contacted Vardy about the possibility of returning to English football.

Speaking to The Mail,former Leicester left-back and current Newport County manager Christian Fuchs said he had “asked Jamie if he wanted to pack his bags” after taking over at the League Two club earlier this winter. “Of course, I asked, even though I already knew what the answer would be,” Fuchs added.

Although Vardy’s contract with Cremonese expires in summer 2026, the chance of the former England international leaving Serie A to return home at this time is considered very low. For now, the 39-year-old striker is fully focused on helping Cremonese avoid relegation from Serie A, while Fuchs aims to keep Newport County out of the relegation zone in League Two, where the club is currently only 3 points above the safety area.
