Determining Nam Định's Opponent in the Southeast Asian C1 Semifinals

The semifinal pairings for the Shopee Cup 2025/26 are set: Nam Định versus Selangor, and Buriram United against JDT.

The semifinal fixtures of the ASEAN Clubs Championship Shopee Cup 2025/26 have officially been confirmed, with Thép Xanh Nam Định (top of Group B) matched against Selangor FC (second in Group A), and Buriram United (leaders of Group A) set to play Johor Darul Tazim (runners-up of Group B).

In the final Group B match on the evening of February 5th, Nam Định entered the decisive game for the top spot against Johor Darul Ta’zim FC and achieved their goal by drawing 1-1 at home. The team from Thành Nam took the lead in the first half with Văn Vĩ’s penalty rebound, before Bergson Silva equalized for the Malaysian side in the closing minutes. This result was enough for Nam Định to maintain their position as Group B leaders.

Unlike Nam Định’s controlled approach, Selangor FC faced a challenging 90 minutes in their final Group A match. The Malaysian side was put at a disadvantage early when striker Alvin Fortes was sent off in the 25th minute against BG Pathum United. Nevertheless, Selangor showed impressive resilience playing with 10 men.

The highlight came in the 36th minute when captain Faisal Halim shone with a brilliant individual effort and a precise shot into the top corner. This goal secured a 1-1 draw for Selangor, just enough to hold second place in Group A and advance to the semifinals.

According to the bracket, Nam Định will meet Selangor, the runners-up of Group A. The matchup promises tactical battles, with Nam Định known for their solid and disciplined style, while Selangor brings fighting spirit and the ability to ignite at critical moments.

The first legs of the Shopee Cup 2025/26 semifinals will be played on May 6th, with the return legs scheduled for May 13th.
