Manchester United summer window or 40 million to clean Hojlund, Amorim does not approve of his performance! West Ham want to buy

Manchester United don't have a handful of non-sale items in their squad at the moment, and most of the players can be sold as long as the price is right. Among them, the price tag of 22-year-old Danish centre-forward Rasmus Hojlund is said to be only £40 million. Premier League rivals West Ham United are keeping an eye on the matter, having signed Brighton's Evan Ferguson on loan in January but could still change their targets this summer.

West Ham's current boss is Graham Potter, the coach of Alex Ferguson when he made his debut at Brighton, and the new Hammers boss wants the Irish striker to replace striker Antonio, who was reimbursed for a car accident, and score goals for his side. But whether or not Ferguson is doing well, West Ham will have other options as there could be other clubs vying for Ferguson and Brighton could also ask for a high price.

TEAMtalk reports that West Ham have already seen Manchester United's Hojlund as a replacement, with the Red Devils selling for the most part. Ten Hag spent £72 million to bring in Hojlund from Atalanta in 2023, scoring 23 goals in 73 games but his form has been up and down. In the Premier League, Hojlund has scored just 12 goals in 49 games.

Amorim even used midfielder Kobe Maynor as the starting nine in Manchester United's recent Premier League campaign, a move Gary Neville believes shows that the 40-year-old Portuguese coach does not like Hojlund and Zirkze. These are the two centre-forwards who have spent a combined £110 million transfer fee on Manchester United, but their goalscoring form has been inconsistent.

Neville said, "There are only two reasons I can think of. One is that Amorim is trying to find a solution to score goals, a system that he likes and wants to use. Or maybe he doesn't like the strikers he currently has under his command. He probably didn't like Hojlund and felt that Zilkze wasn't good enough. I'm not saying Hojlund will scare Palace when he comes on, but they are at least more physical. Amorim's arrangement made me not see the way the team scored. I thought things would get better when the new manager came in and the players would accept his enthusiasm and tactics, but what we saw was the opposite, it was much worse, which is surprising, and there was probably more pain before the end of the season. You can't keep losing because it makes the players lose confidence."

TEAMtalk is rumoured that Amorim felt Hojlund had potential but might not be a good fit for a club like Manchester United, so he was unhappy with him, and the Red Devils accepted that they could not recoup the high price they paid in the first place. Sources say the Danish centre-forward could be an offer of £40million if he continues to be in poor form for the remainder of the season. In addition to West Ham, Serie A's Juventus and other teams are keeping a close eye on the situation.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS have a principle: if a player fails to perform well for two consecutive seasons, he should be purged and not always excuse himself with his youth and potential. Hojlund has just celebrated his 22nd birthday, and Ronaldo has begun to change qualitatively at this age, showing the level of world footballer of the year.

British media also revealed that if Hojlund and Zirkze continue to be weak, Amorim may give more opportunities to young players in the youth system. Adam Lawrence's Under-18 squad features several highly regarded and talented attackers, such as James Scanlon, who scored 17 goals in 18 games, Chido Obi-Martin, who scored 10 goals in a single game against Arsenal against Liverpool, and Amir Ibragimov from Russia.

However, the current standout in the United Academy is Gabriele Biancheri, who has scored 20 goals for the Under-18s and Under-21s this season.

Manchester United have rejected an offer from Serie A's Como for Biankeri, who is understood to be highly regarded within the club and is expected to make his debut in the second half of the season, with pre-season training with Amorim and the first team in the summer at the latest. While Amorim usually prefers a physically strong striker, the 18-year-old's attacking prowess on the left flank has also appealed to the United boss.
